UK ETA Visa Application

The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) is an automated system that determines the eligibility of travellers seeking entry into the UK.

An ETA is valid for 2 years, permits a stay of up to 6 months per visit, and allows multiple entries while it remains valid.

Once your application is submitted, the outcome is sent to you by email within 72 hours at the latest.

Important Notes

All information must be entered in English.

Your application may be refused if the photo and passport details do not match.

Some information (such as your passport number) cannot be changed after submission.

Your application is complete once you have entered your passport details, contact details, residential details, travel details, security answers, photo uploads and payment information. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.

UK ETA Passport Photo Requirements – Mandatory Guidelines for Application

To apply for a UK ETA, you must provide a passport photo.

The submitted ETA will be linked to the passport, so it is important to provide an accurate image.

You must submit a physical passport photo. Uploading or taking a digital passport photo may result in your application being rejected.

Required Information in the Passport Photo or Scan

1. All four corners of the personal information page

2. The passport holder’s personal details (name, date of birth, etc.)

3. Your face photo

4. Machine Readable Zone – MRZ (What is MRZ? It's the 2–3 lines of letters, symbols, and numbers at the bottom of the passport’s information page.)

The expiration date is the date your passport is no longer valid.

Please provide a photo of your face.

A face photo is required for identity verification.

There should be no objects or people in the background.

Your head, shoulders, and upper body must be fully visible.

Eligibility Questions

  • You must declare all criminal convictions from any country.
  • However, convictions for actions that are legal in the UK — such as trade union membership or same-sex relationships — do not need to be declared.
  • War crimes, genocide, or crimes against humanity
  • Terrorism (including support for or membership of terrorist organisations)
  • Support for extremist groups or expressing extremist views
